This superb 19th century large bronze figure was produced at the highly acclaimed French foundry Bronze Garanti Au Titre L. V Depossee and it bears their stamp and registration number. This fine sculpture depicts a pretty young woman dressed in typical simple working clothes from this period standing with her arms folded and resting on a rustic wooded rake whilst taking a rest from the hey making on a hot summers day. It was sculpted by the famous French artist Henri Godet 1863 – 1937 who studied at the Ecole National Des Bearux – Art with Mathurin Moreau. Godet was married to the famous French feminist and orator Nelly Rousell. This superb bronze is high quality and finely detailed and has a wonderful mellow brown- green patination. It is in excellent condition
