This superb and striking portrait depicts an attractive young woman, finely dressed with beautifully curled long hair. It is very cleverly drawn with great detail to the face and eyes and very natural soft tones created with the pastel on coloured paper. It is presented in a cushioned veneered bird's eye maple frame with a giltwood slip to lift the work off the glass. Robert Faulkner was a noted London portrait artist who worked in oil, pastel, and watercolour and he often exhibited at the Royal Society of British Artists, Suffolk Street (SS) between 1849 and 1862 and once at the Royal Academy in 1847. framed dimensions 59cm height x 47cm width x 3cm depth
