This superb, very fine quality English silk needlework picture depicts a panoramic view of Epsom Park during a major horse racing event with hundreds of people in attendance. Some gather to watch the track event. Others are busy around the numerous side shows and refreshment stalls. There is also a heavy police presence in the foreground to combat any social misbehaviour. This fabulous silk work of art dates to around 1900. The late Victorian, early Edwardian period.

The work within this silk picture is like a fine painting in its detail, with thousands of individual stitches creating this epic scene. This is the best example of its type that we have ever seen and must have taken years to produce with its meticulous detail.

The condition is very good, and the silks have retained good colour with very little fading. The picture is presented in its original late 19th century decorative wood and gesso frame, which is in good condition with some minor repairs and refinishing.
