This small mid 19th century Chinese figure depicts a Buddhist lion or foo dog. The animal is in a seated position on a raised pedestal with a youngster playing at its feet. The detail and modelling in this figure group is very good as is the mellow tones of the painted decoration. It is a superior piece to other examples that I have seen.
In very condition. It has possibly had an old and very minor repair to the tips of the ribbon under its mouth but this could also be in the original manufacture.
