This rare and impressive pair of library chairs have comfortable tub shaped cane backs that flow into carved scrolled arms with upholstered green leather pads with a brass nailed boarder. They are supported with carved shaped brackets which raise from the caned seat platform which is fitted with a button green buttoned leather swab cushion. Below, the front legs are elegantly turned and carved with an inverted tulip design. Finished with original brass casters, the rear ones are of a simpler square form with a stylish back sweep again with original brass cup castors. Circa 1825
These superb chairs have been bought from a private collection of fine furniture and they have not been on the market for over 40 years. They are in excellent condition with good colour and patination. The leather upholstery is in excellent condition.
