This remarkable rare miniature country oak wainscot armchair is a very fine example of miniature cabinet making. It has been traditionally constructed in figured English oak in an identical way to a period full size original. It has been beautifully made with hand turned front legs which have ben connected at their base with rectangular stretchers. Above there are shaped and carved rails with a figured oak seat from which the shaped arms connect to the panelled back which is brilliantly carved with a foliate centre panel and a broad back frame equally well carved with a 17th century design. This very accurate miniature has a rich colour and a well patinated finish in good original condition. Circa 1900
