This remarkable rare miniature country high backed Windsor armchair is most likely an apprentice passing out piece. It is just 8 inches tall and is perfect in its scale and construction to a full size example. It has been traditionally made in ash and beech and each element in its construction has been hand turned, cut or carved in precisely the same way it would have been done producing a large scale version. It would have taken a similar amount of skill, time and effort to produce this miniature. A lovely chair which has a wonderful rich colour and a pleasing patination and would be a good addition to any collection. English, circa 1900
