This wonderful early English George II lowboy is a fine example with some rare features. It is made from solid walnut. The top has a moulded edge with carved re-entrant corners together with a crossbanded edge. Below there are three crossbanded drawers fitted with original engraved handles. Below the smaller central drawer there is a shaped kneehole that is finished with carved c scrolls. The shaped frieze below the end drawers flows into elegant cabriole legs with carved c scroll brackets at the top, the legs terminate with finely shaped pad feet which are all in good condition. The sides are similarly shaped with identical back legs.
The most appealing feature has to be the rich patinated colour which varies from deep golden chestnut to a dark bronze-like finish which has naturally developed over 300 hundred years and would be impossible to replicate.
This is a very good lowboy ideal for any collection or home
