A very fine English Stourbridge hand engraved glass jug attributed to William Fritsche.

This superb and important jug is in perfect condition. It is hand blown in clear glass and has the most exquisite finely detailed hand engraved continuous scene around its body which includes numerous trailing stems with leaves and fruiting berries with two exotic birds perched amongst the fruit. This remarkable jug was bought from a trade contact who had purchased it from a private house and the owner said it had been in long family ownership with an original Thomas Webb connection and it had always been referred to as the William Fritsche jug. The quality of the workmanship would most certainly fit but unfortunately this jug is not signed.

English, circa 1890
