This stunning fine piece of Scottish workmanship is made from silver. It is shield-shaped and finely engraved with a delicate foliate design. It is set with four agate specimens in different colours. At the crest of the shield there is a central large amethyst and to each side a beautiful cairngorm of equal size. Similarly, at the bottom, there is another matching cairngorm. This piece is in good condition, Scottish Circa 1880.
Cairngorm is the name given to a citrine quartz variety with an amber or brown colour traditionally mined in the Cairngorm Mountains in Scotland. During the Victorian period, cairngorms were extensively used in traditional Scottish jewelry such as kilt ornaments, bonnet brooches or carved thistle shapes.
