This exceptionally fine 19th century Indian Raj period octagonal copper wall charger is a highly decorative piece. The central scene depicts three female dancers in traditional costume within a small beaded boarder around which are eight smaller single female dancing figures which are each separated with a pair of exotic birds. The outer boarders are of feather and foliate designs and are all finely hand produced with magnificent detail. This process is to raise the design in sheet copper. The central figures are all separately applied. The fine detailing is all hand chased and engraved. The outer decoration is deeply carved into the copper. This charger has exceptional workmanship.
