A very fine Indian Raj period heavy copper repousse worked charger.

This superb large piece of exceptional Raj period Indian art is handmade from heavy gauge copper and is a true work of art. It is a shallow dish or charger which could either be displayed on a stand, surface or wall. The complicated design incorporates a large circular central panel with a view of very detailed exotic birds amongst a variety of flowers and foliate stems surrounded with a rope boarder and a geometrically angled ribbon surrounded with an outer foliate design and has an inscription or signature at the bottom of the main panel. This beautiful work has developed a bronze like well patinated finish. This completely hand worked decoration is very highly skilled and is done with the process of raising the three dimensional design from the back with a hammer and punches and then hand engraving and chasing the fine detailing onto the front surface. This grade of work is rarely available for collectors and this would be a fine addition to any collection or home.
