This highly decorative and very pleasing fire side poker stand is made from polished heavy cast iron and is in the form of a well detailed medieval knight dressed in full armour and holding his sword in front of him. The sword is the removable poker. This interesting piece is English and bears a cast makers name on its reverse, Nestor, made in England and dates to circa 1920. The knight is raised up onto a stepped square plinth. There is a hole between his feet that lines up with the hole which  passes through the back of his hands. The poker locates through both when not being used.
