A most appealing and highly decorative pair of heavy cast iron lions displayed on hexagonal bases with a dragooned moulding. The lions are in a raised seated position with their front paws outstretched and their mouths open revealing their teeth and tongues. They are well modelled with good detailing especially to the manes.
This interesting pair were originally designed as doorstops but they could be displayed in many locations as interesting decorative items.
The iron has some age related pitting. They have an old patinated red lacquer finish that has been waxed.
