This superb and rare example is of the finest quality of workmanship. It is made from two pieces of solid ebony which have been hollowed and fitted to make a calling card case. The exterior is deeply carved on all faces. The back and front have an exotic foliate and flower design with central figures of gods and an exotic bird and a rat fighting with a snake. The sides have equally fine detail with panels of foliate scrolls and flowers. This Indian card case is the best I have ever seen. Circa 1860 and in excellent condition.
