This rare and fine quality life sized European medieval king is dressed for battle. He is standing with his sword in one hand and a scroll in the other either to give or receive an official agreement.
His costume would represent the 11th-13th century. He has metal articulated boots and chain mail Armor with a leather decorated tunic and a red cloth cloak. He is wearing his crown with a cloth neck veil to protect against the sun.
This very unusual piece has been made in the mid-19th century and is carved from pine and finished in gesso and polychrome painted in fine detail. It is in good original condition with age related patination and wear.
