This superb Grand Tour bronze study portrays a bust of Venus De Medici, Aphrodite the glamourous Greek Goddess of love. This fine example is French, circa 1860. It is raised onto a sophisticated base with a thin bronze foot with a turned black slate plinth and above there is a highly decorative cast bronze cylindrical collar with a detailed view of a procession of Grecian figures on horseback. Above, the bronze bust of Venus is mounted onto a plain bronze suckle, together these elements form a very pleasing bronze study which has good colour and age related patination.
