A superb example of this classical figure is beautifully cast with very fine detailing. It dates to the 19th century, circa 1870 and it is a cast bronze reduction figure modelled from the original Roman Antique bronze sculpture which is in the Palazzo Die Conservatori, Rome.  There is also a marble version in the Medici Collection, Florence.  These fine bronzes were produced in the 19th century and sold as mementoes to wealthy travellers who were doing the fashionable journey through Europe taking in the classical architecture, great history and views from each region and country. This was a popular pastime in the 19th century for the wealthy and privileged. This example is in excellent condition and has a rich dark green patination. It is further enhanced by being mounted and displayed on a cut and polished russet marble plinth.
