A fine 19th century French bronze study of a tiger
This high quality and very well modelled French bronze study depicts a muscular prowling tiger with its mouth wide open roaring and growling, perhaps to warn off a rival or to attract a mate. This study is particularly well finished with lots of fine hand chased detailing, particularly to the head and paws. The bronze has a good lustre finish with a rich olive brown patination. The tiger is displayed to great advantage on its original cream marble base highlighted with brown, black and umber veins. A very pleasing late 19th century bronze in good original condition, circa 1890.
