A superb pair of mid 19th century classical Grecian Grand Tour bronzes, one portraying Athena, the Greek goddess of war,handicraft and practical reason who was the daughter of Zeus who is portrayed in the second figure. Zeus was the chief Greek god, the god of sky and thunder. This fine and decorative pair of classical bronze figures have an aged patination which is dark greenish brown and shows slight elements of oxidation to some surfaces which is very pleasing to the eye. They both have good fine detailing which has been hand finished with a chasing chisel. Italian, circa 1860
