A rare silver vesta of extra small proportions by William Hair Haseler
This fine silver vesta is of an unusual rare small size. It measures Height 3.7cm x width 2.7cm x depth 1cm. It is a high quality very solidly made example. Hallmarked for Birmingham 1920/21 by the famous silversmith William Hair Haseler.
It is restrained in its decoration with bands of vertical lines which are in groups of three with a spaced single line between them. On the front face, there is a circular panel designed to customise the vesta with the owner’s engraved initials. In this case, left plain.
The lid opens on a firm spring loaded hinge to gain access to the space where matches would be stored. On the underside, there is a serrated section for striking.
