This beautiful Japanese cloisonné vase dates to circa 1920. It has a hand engraved copper ground with a Japanese landscape showing trees, foliage, and temples with mountains in the distance and the sun overhead which cleverly can be seen through the translucent red enamel which is further decorated on the front with a very fine display of white peonies and daises with variegated green leaves and two butterflies. All detailed with fine silver wire. The top has a patinated copper rim as does the bottom and on the underside, the edge is marked made in Japan, and in the centre, there is the Ando company mark. Interestingly there is a nice old collectors label identifying the mark and also showing a collection reference number. In very good condition.
