This impressive large vase has been well turned in hardwood. This vase is of a bulbous shape with a tall flared neck. The interior has been well hollowed with a thin wall thickness showing good turning skills and craftsmanship. The exterior has been beautifully decorated in a typical chinoiserie style with a black lacquered ground and painted in various tones of gold with a large central panel on each side depicting figures in a landscape. There are smaller panels with birds and flowers that are amongst the lattice and cloud design which is worked around the vase. In good original condition and signed on each large panel. Circa 1900
