This decorative French faience pottery cat is from the Quimper region. It is humorously modelled in the form of a seated cat with its paw raised whilst washing its face. It has a white ground and is decoratively hand painted in typical Quimper style with numerous sprays of flowers in delicate shades of pink, green, blue, and yellow with the eyes highlighted in emerald green. There is a potters mark on the underside details of which are shown on the photograph. This unusual large piece is in good condition with a few very small minor age-related flakes to the glaze. Circa 1920
