This is a superb mid 18th century Dutch burr walnut and marquetry lowboy. It has thick hand cut veneers with typical designs of birds, foliage and flowers and has original handles and locks to the three drawers. A rare feature of this lowboy is that it doubles as a writing table with the stretchers shaped to a design to create foot space and the top lifts from the front and slides forward to produce an overhang which was used for writing letters.
This unique piece is in good original condition with a fine colour and patina.
Circa 1750 .
