This lovely Georgian antique brooch is made from unmarked silver (tested) which is not unusual for jewellery from this early period.
The beautifully polished stone tablet is a piece of moss agate with a wonderful natural figured grain that looks much like growing moss, hence the name.
The stone is set into a plain silver frame decorated with applied delicate silver scrolls and a matching ball at each end. The hinged pin is made from nickel for extra strength and resilience.
This brooch is in good condition, English circa 1800
