This fine example of the classical seated figure of Hermes, the god of trade, heraldry, merchants, commerce, roads, thieves, trickery, sports, travellers and athletes in ancient Greek religion and mythology: the son of Zeus and the Pleiad Maia, has been excellently modelled with high detail to his face, hands and feet. It has a rich dark brown patina and is mounted onto a well carved marble base in the form of a rock. This shows the quality of this item as many lesser examples are seated on a bronze base.
This piece is in excellent condition with no repairs.
