A superb mid Victorian miniature apprentice piece chest of drawers, circa 1860

A wonderful fine example of Victorian miniature cabinet making, English circa 1860. It is most likely an apprentice passing out piece made in miniature and designed to show all of the skill and ability of the craftsman without using the volume of material. This beautiful chest of five graduated drawers stands on solid ebony, turned bun feet which match the original beautifully hand turned drawer knobs. The chest has been made in mahogany and then all of the outer show wood surfaces are veneered in a fine figured mahogany which has a rich faded colour and a lovely age related patina. The drawers are very finely made with tiny hand cut dovetails. They are all mahogany lined just like a full size example. This exquisite chest is in very original untouched condition and is a true collector’s piece.
