This highly decorative and very tactile antique desk pen and ink stand has been superbly and cleverly made from two 18th century leather bound books and appears when closed to be a pair of books which would sit nicely on a desk hiding their true purpose which when hinged open reveals a fully fitted interior all hand tooled in leather with two original cut glass ink bottles with screw top brass and green enamelled lids each with a gilt crown in the centre. And to finish this beautiful stand set in front of the bottles is a recessed place for your favourite pen. A rare and amusing curiosity in very good original condition. Circa 1870
