This amazingly detailed black forest carved linden wood study of a mallard duck is one of the finest carved studies we have ever had the pleasure of bringing into our stock collection. It is an exceptional life size study. The duck is perched on a hollow section of log which has excellent natural bark texture. The figure is very tactile and pleasing to the eye and shows great scaling and proportion and the highest degree of very fine carved detailing where each individual feather has been produced, everyone of a different size, shape and angle with every pin line showing. The eyes are made from glass and are inlaid into a bone surround. This fine study is in excellent original condition and the underside is mounted with original thick leather to protect a polished surface. Swiss/German circa 1930
