A rare Chinese large hardstone study of a fruiting peach bonsai tree, circa1930

This highly decorative and most unusual large scale Chinese study of a fruiting peach bonsai tree has been hand carved from a variety of different coloured hardstones. The rectangular shallow planter is carved from a single block of mottled green and white stone. The soil has been produced from tiny white stone chippings. The tree’s trunk has been modelled from clay over a metal frame from it the wired stems have been hand woven in green silk. The multitude of leaves are individually carved from a mottled green stone and the beautiful fruit is from an amazing graduated green stone with pink and red inclusions which the artist has cleverly used to imitate the natural colours of the ripening peach fruit. A very pleasing rare decorative object in very good original condition.
