This late 19th century pietra dura plaque depicts a cavalier drinking from a flagon. It is probably taken from the original painting by Francesco Vienna.
This plaque has been superbly worked into a tablet of black marble with an attractive combination of coloured marbles with jasper, lapis, malachite and mother-of-pearl. The detail and execution of this rare item are very fine and in excellent condition and is framed in a contemporary hand made gilt swept frame.
