This amazing large scale Italian glazed pottery sculpture depicts the bust of a frenzied stallion rearing up and tossing his head and mane with a wild eyed expression. His mouth is wide open bearing his teeth most likely in combat with another stallion. The detail of the head is brilliant with all of the veins and muscles well defined as is the movement showing in his mane. This large pottery figure is simply glazed in thick burnt orange and green. A most impressive large scale piece with great impact. Italian, circa 1940
