This 19th century bronze study is delightfully depicting a terrier dog raised on his rear legs playing with a ball. His expression is of fun and playfulness . This bronze is in good condition with a dark brown patina. It is signed Waagen on the base and on the underside it is cast le blanc.
Arthur Waagen was (1869 1910) was born in Memel, East Prussia. He was a well respected animal sculptor and regularly exhibited at the Parisian salons from 1869-1887.
