This top quality example by Eutrope Bouret (1833-1906) is depicting the classical young Egyptian maiden gathering water in a vessel. She is dressed in a typical robe and headdress of the period and is resting against a pilaster with hieroglyph symbols down each side.
This fine bronze study has a brown patina and is further enhanced with highlighted detail which has been stop gilt in pure gold (a difficult process where the bronze has to be masked in wax with only the parts to be gilt left untouched for the plating process to work).
