This brilliant large scale hand-stitched woolwork tapestry framed panel is taken from the famous oil painting by John Constable the famous English 19th century artist. (1776 - 1837).
This picture has been finely designed, scaled and worked and would have taken many months or even years to produce. The main picture has been worked in normal broad wool and the finer details of the boy, dog and sheep have been worked with a smaller stitch and finer wool.
This large scale piece dates to the late 19th century. It shows some degree of natural fading but still retains all of its colours. It is displayed in a fine quality hand made giltwood swept frame which is in keeping with its style and period.
