A Superb Pair Of Gilt Bronze And Pottery Aztec Design Vases/urns

This highly decorative French gilt bronze and pottery lidded vases are of a bold design. They stand on elaborate gilt bronze bases which are finely cast with lions paw feet and portrait ovals front and back. The glazed pottery bodies have a rich blue ground and are decorated with a stunning Aztec design in various bright colours. They are mounted on each side with two elaborate gilt bronze female busts dressed in Aztec ceremonial regalia. The vases have a decorative bronze rim with a matching raised lid finished with a flame finial. The interior of the vases is fitted with a brass liner. Both pieces are in good original condition with bright gilding showing only very light wear. The pottery has slight crazing from the kiln on one side of the neck on one vase. This is not damage but a slight manufacturing fault as seen in the photograph.
