This most impressive bronze sculpture was produced at the famous French Barbedienne foundry and displays the companies signature. This classical study has been superbly modelled by the top 19th-century French sculptor Emmanuel Fremiet (1824 – 191). It is superbly detailed and shows a Grecian charioteer upon an elaborate chariot being pulled by two powerful and muscular horses who are running at full gallop with their front legs raised in a good display of motion. The sculpture is displayed on its original polished russet figured marble plinth. This bronze study is in excellent condition and has a shaded dark green patination.
