A very interesting and superbly made silver Victorian presentation sugar bowl made by Robert Hennell in 1865-6 in London.
This superb piece was made as a prize and given by the Merchant Taylors Co. and presented to Sergeant Dunn of The London Rifle Brigade in 1865.
This sugar bowl is wonderfully decorated with a continual pierced and hand engraved scene of early soldiers in uniform and armour with some mounted on horseback. In the centre of the scene there is an elephant wearing a ceremonial saddle dress . Below there is a hand engraved inscription.
The sugar bowl has its original blue glass liner and has a hinged handle for lifting.
This piece is in good original condition and dated London 1865-6
Measurement are 18cm high including the handle x 12cm wide x 11cm deep
