An interesting 19th C miniature hand painted classical picture

This classical miniature picture shows a Grecian or Roman grand arena with people watching the main event of battles between charioteers with horses. It dates to the mid Victorian period and is completely original. It has been produced with a faintly printed black and white image onto a metal panel which is then finely hand painted in oils. It has a rich pallet of colours and has been beautifully painted with good detail. Displayed in its original dark oak moulded frame with a silvered inner slip. On the reverse there is an original gallery label. This interesting picture comes with a finely handmade mahogany easel stand which would have been made around the same period for displaying this miniature to its best advantage.
